SOME INDIANS BASED IN KENYA IMPACTING HEALTHCARE IN KENYA

 DR SWARUP MISHRA

He is the Chairman and Founder of Mediheal Group of Hospitals. He traveled from Odisha (formerly Orissa) in eastern India to Kenya, East Africa, and in 1997 alongside his wife who is also a medical practitioner they settled in a town called Eldoret. His medical career in Kenya started with him being employed as a lecturer in one of the local universities. In 2005 he decided to venture into private practice and acquired what is now referred to as the Mediheal Group of Hospitals with hospitals/clinics in the towns of Eldoret, Nakuru, and Nairobi. Among the services, they provide include laboratory, ART, ENT, physiotherapy, dental, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and orthopedics. Dr. Mishra is now settled in Kenya and is even a politician.


DR UMESH CHANDRA SAINI

The camera-shy and highly private Dr. Saini is the Chairman and Founder of The Nairobi West Hospital. A Kenyan Indian by naturalization, he was born in Kaimganj, Uttar Pradesh, India. He went to Kenya in 1973 to start his career as a doctor after graduating from India. He worked briefly with the Kenya government before venturing into private practice, setting up a clinic in a town that was barely known. Almost 50 years later he is now established in Nairobi with The Nairobi West Hospital (TNWH) now a fully-fledged modern world-class 24-hour, 220-bed capacity medical facility which was recognized as such in 1990. The hospital operates on average at between 80 and 100% bed occupancy with an average of 300 outpatient cases daily. Besides the standard departments, The Nairobi West Hospital is known for rendering services in Cancer Care/Oncology, Orthopaedic, Gynaecology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Urology.

JAYESH SAINI

Jayesh started his career in the family-owned Nairobi West Hospital, a world-class 260-bed fully-fledged medical facility. In almost 20 years, he has invested greatly in healthcare. Besides Bliss, he owns Medicross Ltd, comprising 22 outpatient centers equipped to offer comprehensive quality services.
